When you decide to sell a paperback version, and go through Amazon's easy to navigate but multi-stepped and tedious process, you are eventually told that your book will go live in 5-7 days. This coincides (roughly) with my release day of June 10th. Imagine my surprise then, when on a bizarre whim an hour ago, I searched Eversea on Amazon.com and discovered that IT'S AVAILABLE in paperback RIGHT NOW. Holy sh*t, Batman! I don't even have MY OWN copies yet that I ordered from them, but if you're a pime member you can get it by tomorrow. Before me! LOL! Even in the U.K.
Digital versions still slated for June 10th...which also happens to be release day of Abbi Glines' new book (seriously, Abbi?)

Reviews are amazing to receive. You pour your heart and soul into a story and when someone takes time to read it--and more so, takes time (in detail) to tell you what it meant to them and the parts they liked, disliked, loved and adored--there is no better feeling in the world. And a great, thoughtful five star review? Well, obviously they OWN me! A few weeks ago Eversea was offered on Read It Review It on the New Adult Book Club on goodreads. The NA book club has over 2500 members, making it one of the largest groups on GR, so I was pretty nervous about just throwing Eversea out there. But I did, and offered twenty copies for review. They were snapped up right away, which was a relief because I had nightmares of crickets chirping and having to post plaintive messages to remind people it was a free read. LOL! Anyway, the first review rolled in with five stars, and my proud mother emailed it to everyone she knew. Sarez Tomoan ~ thank you and you are kind of famous :) The next few weeks consisted of the reviews trickling in (I think there are a couple more to go) with 4 and 5 stars (yes, yes, I know the ending annoyed a lot of people). I read and appreciated the comments in every single one. There has been some amazing and thoughtful feedback, and I am eternally grateful to these folks for taking time out of their lives to enjoy the story of Jack and Keri Ann and give meaningful feedback. "Eversea is the kind of book you read with a carton of ice cream , to escape for a while and daydream for hours afterwards. It's the kind of chick flick you'd watch and swoon over (and over) with your BFF's on Girls' Night." ~ Laila, Goodreads, 5 stars In the meantime, the book has also been offered as an Advance Review Copy to reviewers and bloggers (happening throughout June). Reviews have started coming in from them too ~ and so far, it has been a wonderful experience. My all time favorite blog post so far was on Naveah's New Adult Book Blog, she not only totally got it, but she also loved the Lowcountry setting. I pretty much had a smile on my face from start to finish and couldn't put it down ~ Naveah In fact, Naveah also unwittingly added another song to the Eversea playlist : Anyway, suffice to say that I am a little in awe and overwhelmed by the initial response to Eversea. And despite being so nervous about next week (as Keri Ann would say "feeling like I was naked at a fair"), I am also super excited.
Friends have been asking me what's involved in this pre-release time and why am I so busy (my nine year old is the most curious about that ... oh dear ... I'll make it up to him).
There are a lot of moving parts going on right now. In addition to working on the sequel , Eversea is going on a book blitz with (at last count) 104 blogs. That means on the week of release June 10th -16th (next week) these blogs will post something from my PROMO folder that I created, it will probably include the cover, it may also include teasers and quotes or teaser pics. Luckily, I have Giselle from Xpresso Book Tours handling that for me ! She is wonderful and extremely organized. Also, for the month of June , Eversea is on a "review" tour with another 15 blogs thanks to Bound by Love Book Tours , some of whom will also be doing an interview and some of whom I will be sending a unique guest post for their site. Each of these stops requires additional things from me. And when I have to send an electronic Advance Review Copy to a reviewer, I always have a little kitten at trying to figure out the conversion software so I can email it in their preferred format!! It foxes me every time. Especially when it kicks back someone's email address for no apparent reason! Grr. I also have a working spreadsheet of bloggers and reviewers that I am contacting personally and each of them want to be contacted and/or sent information in a different way! :) But of course! I also learned how to create a rafflecopter for the giveaway we're doing for the bloggers and their readers ~ it actually wasn't that hard or time-consuming - YAY! Additionally, Eversea was featured on Read It Review It week on the New Adult Book Club on Goodreads and I emailed preferred versions to twenty people who signed up to review it. It has had some amazing feedback! I am also on my third proof of the paperback! Why - you say? Well, the first had some interesting paragraph run over issues. i.e. if a paragraph didn't finish at the end of the page, the entire thing was bumped over, which left a lot of random white space at the bottom of each page. I finally got my contest badge back from the Winter Rose Contest, and I do not need to have the word "unpublished" on the any references to it, so I had my amazing cover designer Adrian Repasch remove that word ... and soooooo ... third proof. Oh, and of course - you're looking at what else I've been working on. THE WEBSITE !!!!!!! Ok - now back to Jack. I can't believe there are only 8 days to go until "Eversea" goes live. I have been SO busy! Apart from the fact I am also trying to work on the sequel, the steps involved in launching a book ... especially for a first timer like me ... have been a learning curve and a major undertaking. Hopefully, next time around it will all go a little more smoothly!
Some of the early reviews of "Eversea" from reviewers have been amazing, though! I am so excited to share Jack and Keri Ann with everyone. |
